A Cold, Refreshing, Crowd-Pleaser

On our wedding day, my mother-in-law served a fruit slush at the church luncheon after the wedding. It was 110*F and full sun in Mesa, Arizona. The cold, fruity drink was so delicious after being outdoors in a wedding dress! Her version was loaded with fruit chunks and served with a spoon.

This started fruit slush explorations for me over the years. There is just something about a fruit slush punch that keeps everyone coming back for more – and there’s no alcohol needed. There’s a reason shaved ice and lemonade stands make money all summer. People love fruit and ice together. This Peach Slush Punch is great at an outdoor BBQ, wedding reception, or family reunion.

Peaches in July

Where we live, peaches arrive about July. But you don’t have to wait till then to make this slush – you can use frozen peaches year-round. I know the peach gelatin may seem odd, but it increases the flavor and improves the texture of this slush without it tasting or feeling like a jello smoothie. I learned you can put too much gelatin in, so stick to the recipe.

The nice thing about this slush is that you can add more or less to your cup as you’d like, depending on your sweet tooth. Just start with ⅓ of the glass filled with slush and add soda from there.  I like to use Sprite, but you can use your favorite. I’m imagining this Peach Slush Punch right now served next to slow-roasted ribs, potato salad, and sliced cucumbers at a summer picnic! It’s easy, and delicious.

Recipe Ingredients

  1. Frozen or Fresh Peaches – Brings the bright flavors of fresh fruit to the slush.
  2. Peach Gelatin – Helps the consistency of the peach slush to be nice on the tongue without being icy and adds a pop of peach flavor.
  3. Frozen Pink Lemonade Concentrate – Lemonade makes everything taste better
  4. Pineapple Juice – Adds a nice bright flavor to really make this Peach Slush refreshing.

How to Make the Peach Slush Punch

Make the Peach Mixture:

  1. Dissolve the sugar and gelatin in water over the stove. No need to boil.
  2. Then, puree the peaches, lemonade concentrate, and pineapple juice in a blender. If you want a chunkier punch, puree the peaches less. If you want a smooth punch, puree the peaches until no chunks remain.
  3. Add the dissolved gelatin and sugar mix in. It doesn’t need to cool before adding.
  4. Place all the ingredients in a ziplock bag and freeze.
  5. To serve this Refreshing Peach Slush Punch, fill a cup one third to halfway with the peach mixture. Add your favorite lemon-lime soda to taste and enjoy!

Whatever this summer brings for you, keep cool with this delicious and easy Peach Slush Punch!

Total Time: 6 hours 20 minutes

Refreshing peach slush punch packed with frozen height-of-summer peaches, bright flavors, and sparkling lemon-lime soda.  Perfect for those hot summer days, weddings, and parties!

Ingredients

Peach Slush

  • 1 (3 oz box) peach gelatin
  • 1 C (7 oz) white sugar
  • 1 C (8 oz) water
  • ½ can (6 oz) frozen lemonade or pink lemonade concentrate
  • 2 ⅞ C (23 oz) pineapple juice
  • 1 (12 oz) bag of frozen peaches, slightly thawed

For serving:

  • 1 liter lemon-lime soda, chilled

Instructions

Make the Peach Slush:

  1. In a small pot, heat water, sugar, and gelatin until completely dissolved. Set aside.
  2. In a blender, puree peaches, frozen lemonade concentrate, and pineapple juice. Add gelatin mixture and mix.
  3. Pour peach mixture into a gallon ziplock bag. Seal and place inside another ziplock bag to prevent leaks. Alternately, pour into a 9x13 pan.
  4. Place peach mixture in freezer and freeze until solid, at least 6 hours.

To serve:

  1. Remove peach mixture from freezer and let soften for 45 minutes, until scoopable.
  2. Fill each glass a third to halfway with peach mixture. Add lemon-lime soda to taste.
  3. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • It’s easier to drink pureed peaches, and the drink can be consumed through a quality straw,  but if you like chunky frozen fruit, you can blender the peaches a little less and serve with a slush spoon.
  • You can use fresh peaches. You will need 3 C skinned and pitted peach slices.
